Fans of the US women’s football team have shown their anger with the U.S President Donald Trump during a live Fox News broadcast. They expressed their feelings just after their team won the Women’s World Cup 2019. On Sunday, a segment aired live and there was a rowdy crowd in Lyon, France, bar could be heard chanting “f*** Trump”. Although a Fox News reporter tried to explain the historic moment and historical victory of the US women football team. The reporter said, “History has just been made. We are here in a sports bar in Lyon, France”. There were some people in the bar and they started chanting behind him. The reporter then looked back and thinking the chants would be regarding the US women’s national football team, as he said, “listen to it”, but suddenly turned back and attempted to ignore the chants.
It is noteworthy that the US women’s national team beat the Netherlands 2-0 on Sunday to earn their 4th World Cup title and their 2nd consecutive title. The team will be honored with a ticker tape parade in New York City on Wednesday. It is still doubtful whether Trump will invite the victors to the White House. It is an invitation the president has promised to extend whether they win or lose. It appears unlikely that many would attend even if they are invited. Megan Rapinoe scored a goal during Sunday’s final and established herself as one of the leading players on the team this summer.
She has publicly feuded with the president and suggested just this week that not many if any players would attend should the invitation be extended. Rapinoe said in January she would not go to the “f White House, prompting Trump to punch back by calling her disrespectful. Trump also tweeted during the current week, “Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team”. But, the first lady Melania Trump tweeted to congratulate the US women’s national team shortly after the World Cup win.
