Trump admired Football Coach over Jeff Sessions stunning criticism
U.S President Donald Trump has admired former college football coach Tommy Tuberville over his former attorney general Jeff Sessions in Alabama’s U.S Senate race. The seat is currently held by Democratic Senator Doug Jones. It is noteworthy that Sessions faces a runoff election with Tuberville for the Republican candidacy on 31 March, following a narrow primary election on 3rd March. President Trump forced the former U.S attorney general to resign after he had rescued himself from the Justice Department’s impeachment inquiry into Russian interference in U.S 2016 elections.
Trump’s ongoing criticism and disappointment with his attorney general prompted departure Sessions from his administration in 2018. He said, “I don’t have an attorney general, it’s very sad”. Tuberville coached at the University of Mississippi, Auburn University, Texas Tech University, and University of Cincinnati before making a political turn. He announced his entry in a race to unseat incumbent Jones, who was elected to the U.S Senate in 2017 in a special election.
Point to be noted that Jones defeated Roy Moore in that race. Moore is one of two Democratic senators facing reelection to the U.S Senate in 2020. President Trump said on Twitter, “Tuberville is a REAL LEADER who will never let Make America Great Again and Keep America Great, or our Country, down”! He added the Second Amendment is under siege and claimed Tuberville is strong on Crime and the Border, though Alabama does not share a border with Mexico. Trump admired said in a statement, “Tuberville truly LOVES our Military and our Vets and will be a great Senator for the people of Alabama”.
