The New York City will Experience 7.4 Feet Flooding after Every 5 years: Study
A new scientific study released just days before the 5th anniversary of Super-storm Sandy. The study indicated that floods were striking the New York City are just once after every 500 years. But, it will be happened after every 5 years and probably continuously within the next 3 decades. The study was published on Monday 23rd October and it was finalized by researchers at various universities in collaboration with the National Academy of Sciences. The study initially blamed the expected change on sea-level and its rise caused by global warming. The Rutgers University scientist and study co-author, Andra Garner said that it is a type of warning about how we are protecting our coastal infrastructure. The study was based on the analysis by researchers on various models produced in predictions for sea level rise and expected changes in the hurricane path in the future.
Most of the models had a plenty of good news for the largest city of the nation. The climate changes might bring more violent storms, but they will also swing further off-shore. It means that storm growth heights will not be increased through 2300. But, the rising sea levels might indicate that floods with 7.4 feet or high had struck the city area of New York once after 500 years before 1800. The study warned that it happened after every 25 years, but it will occur after every 5 years between the time period 2030 and 2045. Point to be noted that researchers didn’t mention any type of recommendations for the preparations by the public safety officials. Garner added that this study will provide information to the U.S citizens in taking such decisions.
