At Least 3 People Dead in the Amtrak Derailment incident in Washington State
On Monday, the officials have indicated that a passenger train on a recently opened Amtrak route jumped the tracks on an overpass south of Tacoma. It slammed rail cars into a busy highway. At least 3 people have died and more than 100 other injured. The incident of derailment the Amtrak Train No. 501 was happened at the time of making the inaugural run of a new service from Seattle to Portland. it dropped a 132-ton locomotive in the southbound lanes of the busiest travel corridor at the Northwest of Interstate 5. 2 passenger coaches were measurably knocked down in the traffic lanes, 2 other coaches were left hanging off the bridge, and one coach wedged against a tractor-trailer. There were 5 damaged cars, 2 semi-trucks and a massive amount of concrete pieces that were smashed from the damaged overpass.
The entire 12 coaches of this train one of its 2 engines damaged. The National Transportation Safety Board immediately deployed a special team to investigate the factors involved in this unfortunate incident. A modern-dance student, 20-years old Emma Shafer said that she found herself in a coach hanging at a steep angle toward the highway. A man behind her was shouting due to his legs were damaged and a parent seized with a baby in a restroom. The local police and fire officials said on Monday afternoon that this incident happened at 7:33 AM almost midway between Olympia and Tacoma. This incident left 3 people dead and more than 80 injured. But, investigators are still going through the destructive place and didn’t announce total number of casualties.
