On Saturday evening, the newly elected US President Joe Biden appeared to take Donald Trump’s infamous MAGA slogan and make it into his own when giving his acceptance speech in Wilmington, Delaware. The elected president vowed to restore the soul of America when addressing Americans. Biden said, “I sought this office to restore the soul of America to rebuild the backbone of the nation the middle class”. He also made a clever nod to Trump’s Make America Great Again slogan. He added, “To make America respected around the world again and to unite us here at home. It is the honor of my life-time that so many millions of Americans have voted for this vision. And now the work of making this vision real is the task of our time”.

Point to be noted that Biden’s victory speech came after 4 days of the American public waiting for a winner to be determined in the 2020 election. On Saturday morning, some news organizations called the battleground state of Pennsylvania as Biden’s, putting him over the necessary 270 electoral votes he needed to take the White House. Moreover, Biden also reached out to Trump supporters in his speech in an effort to unite the country. He said, “For those of you who voted for President Trump, I understand the disappointment tonight. I’ve lost a couple of times myself. But now, let’s give each other a chance. Let’s give each other a chance and stop treating each other like enemies. We are not enemies. We are Americans. This is the time to heal”.

It is noteworthy that Donald Trump has claimed voter fraud has impacted the election results. He tweeted right before the race was called for Biden and said, “I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT”. Celebrities, politicians, and members of the public are among those who have admired Joe Biden’s first speech as president-elect. Some have called it the best he has ever made. Biden delivered his victory speech from his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, on Saturday evening. He urged Americans to come together and restore the soul of America. Biden said, “It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric, to lower the temperature, to see each other again, to listen to each other again, to make progress. We must stop treating our opponents as our enemy”.
