Ilhan Omar says Stephen Miller a White Nationalist
The Democratic congresswoman, Ilhan Omar said the advisor of the U.S President Donald Trump, Stephen Miller is a White Nationalist and should have no role in the U.S government. The Minnesota representative described it as an outrage that Miller and the driving force behind Trump administration’s controversial immigration policies had influence over the White House. The comments of Omar came following reports that Miller had been personally lobbying the president to take the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) in a tougher direction. He was also the architect of Trump’s so-called Muslim ban and policy of separating migrant children from their parents at the U.S border.
Ilhan Omar is one of the first 2-Muslim women elected to the U.S Congress. She tweeted, “Stephen Miller is a white nationalist. The fact that he still has an influence on policy and political appointments as an outrage”. Miller is said to have been the impetus behind an ongoing shake-up of senior immigration officials at the DHS (Department of Homeland Security). He is reported to have convinced the president to oust Kirstjen Nielsen, who recently resigned as homeland security secretary. It is because she was trying to obey laws on the treatment of refugees, granting of amnesty, and separation of families. A White House aide spoke last year and claimed that Miller actually enjoys seeing pictures of migrant children detained at the U.S border.
Tweet of Ilhan Omar contained a link to a story regarding Miller reportedly pushing Trump to withdraw his nomination of Ronald Vitiello to be next ICE head due to his lack of support for fully closing the border between the U.S and Mexico. The post of congresswoman was quickly condemned by Donald Trump Jr., who replied, “I see that the head of the Farrakhan Fan Club, @IlhanMN, took a short break from spewing her usual anti-semitic bigotry today to accuse a Jewish man of being a white nationalist because she apparently has no shame”. Omar has formerly been lambasted by Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her use of anti-semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations regarding supporters of Israel.
