‘Facebook Reels’ now available Worldwide in over 150 Countries
The app industry boosted with a massive number of downloads & consumer spending across Google Play and iOS stores in 2021. The App Annie has indicated that Google Play, iOS, and 3rd party Android app stores increased 19% and reached around $170 billion in 2021.
However, mobile ad spending rose 23% and reached $295 billion during the last couple of years. The downloading of apps also showed a significant increase by 5% and reached $230 billion in 2021. Moreover, apps aren’t only considered a way to pass idle hours but can efficiently boost various types of businesses.
A report says 233 apps and games earned around $100 million in 2021 with 13 capped $1 billion in revenue. It was a 20% increase from 2020 as 193 apps and games surpassed $100 million in annual consumer spending. But just 8 apps capped $1 billion.
Facebook Reels will handle TikTok threats
Meta has confirmed that Facebook Reels is now available worldwide in 150 countries after successfully launching in September 2021. The recent advancement is a major part of a response from Meta against the harassment of TikTok.
It would enable content creators to share short video clips on Facebook or Reels using Instagram to discover more audiences. Facebook has presented more productive tools besides the worldwide release, such as 60-second videos, Remix, and others.
Facebook Reels Overlay Ads & Banner Ads
The platform also offered new mechanisms for content creators to earn money from their Reels using advertising, and upcoming virtual tipping. The company has planned to extend tests to entire Reels creators of Facebook Reels Overlay Ads in the US, Mexico, and Canada. Facebook is also planning to extend tests to more than 50 countries in March, in the available areas of in-stream ads.
These new Overlay Ads evidently sit above the playing content without halting video for ads, so considered non-interruptive ads. Banner ads are a semi-glossy overlay at the bottom of the reel. Stickers are solid images and you can place them anywhere within the reel. Creators will now receive 55% of the ad revenue for the time being.
The Sensor Tower issued a report showing the top 100 non-game apps experienced an increase in consumer spending. The increase was calculated at around 41% to $18.3 billion in 2021 compared to $13 billion in 2020. It represents just 14% of the entire revenue after in-app buying across games and apps with a total of $131.6 billion in 2021.
The portion of the group in the market is growing effectively. The US figures reflected the global trends about the spending for subscriptions on mobile. US consumers spent more than $8.5 billion on the top 100 non-game subscription apps in 2021. It was an increase of 44% from $5.9 billion in 2020. However, subscriptions are considered more effective in boosting the app store revenue.
