Boeing & DARPA are building a New Hypersonic Spacecraft
DARPA started work a couple of years ago on a new experimental aircraft project and named it XS-1. They designed a vehicle in order to make launching satellites much faster and less expensive exertion. Now, the project has just got a major advancement because DARPA has announced a partnership with Boeing in order to build its next generation hypersonic spacecraft. It is important that the aircraft manufacturer has been wired to finalize advanced design work on the project XS-1. The concept of the project was forwarded by Boeing to the agency at the early stages of the project. It would help in manufacturing and testing over next few years. It means the Boeing is now manufacturing an unmanned and reusable hypersonic jet aircraft with the supposed 10 running test flights during 10 continuous days by the year 2020.
The program is especially designed to prove the ability of XS-1 in launching satellites into low orbit of the earth on a short notice. Jess Sponable from DARPA also issued a press release that the XS-1 shouldn’t be considered a conventional airplane or traditional launch vehicle, but it will be a combination of two. The major objective of this project is to lower the launching costs and replacement of today’s frustrating heavy amount of time to wait, but it will be launched as per demand in a short amount of time. The XS-1 will be able to manage this issue by flying to suborbital heights without using boosters prior to deploy a disposable secondary rocket in order to push its payload into orbit. It will be much better that the new spacecraft will be able to take a second satellite within hours of leaving the first satellite.
