April’s Full Pink Moon could bring Rain, Chill, or Freeze

The full moon of April is affiliated with the springtime blooming of the plant Phlox subulate. The Old Farmer’s Guide says it is a pink wildflower native to eastern North America. This plant is also famous for moss phlox, mountain phlox, or creeping phlox.
The Guide says the above-mentioned Native American names for the full moon of April were tributes to the spring season. The Tlingit tribe named it Budding Moon of Plants referring to the winter season completion and regeneration of plant proliferation. However, the Dakota tribe labeled it the Moon during the clear streams.

The Penumbra is the incomplete outer shadow and the Umbra is a complete dark shadow. It will become darker but not disappear when the full moon moves into Earth’s shadow.
