The Amazing Ice Cream of Breyers Doesn’t Melt
A number of videos circulated on the internet for the past several years supposedly showing that Breyers brand ice cream doesn’t melt in hot environment. The most popular version was published on YouTube in the month of January 2016 by an account “Mr Eastcoastman” with a title “You Will Never Eat This Ice Cream Again, Sickening Results”. The mentioned product in this video was Ice Cream and the video originally used a Frozen Dairy Desert. This characteristic was mentioned in detail in a pop-up comment in that video, but the major difference was not sufficiently explained. Breyers also described its concern regarding these products on their official website and explained that the Frozen Dairy Deserts labeled products don’t meet the definition for Ice Cream in the U.S Food & Drug Administration.
It is correct that published video had mentioned the Frozen Dairy Desert product and it resists melting in hot conditions. It is not a new experience caused by the brand dodging FDA regulations. Point to be noted that a number of Desert manufacturers are using FDA approved ingredients to avoid freezer burn and to control its melting rate. A similar rumor also circulated regarding the Ice Cream of Wal-Mart brand. The consumer reports were also posted in this video by explaining methods behind this specific Ice Cream. The discussed video also showed not melting frozen products, but misleading information. The showing products shown in the video don’t meet the Ice Cream definition according to FDA. Despite all the facts, these products were not Ice Creams, but the FDA have approved these products for safe consumption.
